Jumping Apes Birthday Party in Cleburne, Texas
We attended a birthday party today at Jumping Apes in Cleburne and I have to say I was impressed. We had previously been to another "Jumping" place of business in Cleburne and never returned because of the atmosphere. So to my surprise Jumping Apes did an A+ on cleanliness, staff , and atmosphere all around. I felt comfortable to let my child run about while keeping an eye out and didn't feel like I needed to wash my hands everytime I touched something. The decor is absolutely fantastic. It is truly kid friendly but great for parents also. They had some great bounce houses and a place for the wee little ones as well.
DIY Scarecrow
Now that we are well into September we spent Saturday evening making our homemade scarecrow. I was so excited because she is finally old enough to do these kind of projects and really help.....YEY! It only cost us $9 for the hay and everything else we found around the house.
Old Hat
Old Pantyhose
Wire or String
We begin by putting a piece of wood horizontally through the arms and stuffing the shirt with hay to make him really puffy. Then tied the ends of the arms with florist wire(any type of string or wire) and left a little hay sticking out for effect. We also closed the bottom of the shirt by attaching front and back with safety pins. Then we stuck the second piece of wood vertically through one pant leg and nailed the boards to each other. Now you have a standing scarecrow. Stuffed the legs and overalls with hay and tied at end of legs with wire.
I used some old material to cut out letters that said "Welcome Fall" and hot glued onto his overalls. Once pumpkins arrive we will have to place some around him.

For the face we tied the legs of the pantyhose together and cut off excess. Stuffed girdle part of hose with hay and formed to a head. Draw on Eyes, Nose, Rosy Cheeks and a Stitched Mouth. We attached the old had to the panty hose with safety pins. After hammering the scarecrow into the ground we attached to head by sliding down onto the top of the wood, adding a little extra hay at back of wood and then attaching to board with wire.

West Fest 2010
So this was our first time to attend West Fest and it was a good time. We started at the Tractor Pull.....
Then there was a full blown carnival. We opted for the pony rides, petting zoo and free Lego kids table
We ended with some good chzec food, watching the dance floor and enjoying the crafty vendors.
All in all this was a good festival.....mostly the kids enjoyed and was able to buy some stuff that could have been bought at a local boutique or shop. I did like the tractor pool but was expecting a bit more muscled up tractors than what was shown. That's just me. If you are ever in the West, Texas area you should stop and pick up some kolaches and check out the local shops. Love this Texas town.

Fall Shopping For Kids Clothes Underway
The temp has not cooled off quite yet but I can not help but be sucked in by all the fall clothes on the racks. I found some cute deals from Old Navy, Children's Place and Target. Target has really impressed me this year but you better hurry or everything will be picked over.

DIY Girls Wall Mural
We are almost finished with th girls castle wall mural. I need to complete the sky and finito. I used a coloring book page to trace and it turned out pretty cute. If anyone in the surrounding counties of Johnson County would like a coloring book page wall mural done in a kids room.....let me know. Would love to do some demo murals. I am not an artist by any means and I only do coloring book or print out pages.
You buy the paint and I'll do the rest.
